Psychologists will most likely be exposed to varying degrees of stress-related issues in clinical practice. And while stress can invariably lead to or exacerbate depression and anxiety, the physical and hormonal aetiology of the stress response is often poorly understood. This course focuses on the hormonal response to stress and how this affects the body’s systems in various ways. The course also looks specifically at how nutrition can play a role in buffering the stress response and also in remedying some of the physical manifestations of stress.
